One of Those Days

This has already been "one of those days." You probably know what I'm talking about...can't take a bath without someone hitting someone else with a hairbrush. Another someone drinks what she thinks is Diet Dr. Pepper and it turns out to be Daddy's spit. So that someone spits it onto the carpet. Then before I can clean it up, the first someone finds the 409 to spray the spot on the carpet. He couldn't find the carpet cleaner. The 409-spray tech also hit his sister with the remote. When I asked him if he hit her, he said "I didn't hit her. I whacked her." I think I'm ready to go back to work.

Breakfast

This morning when Jake was campaigning for breakfast...

Jake: "Can we get doughnuts?"

Me: "I don't know. Why do you want doughnuts?"

Jake: "I smell like doughnuts today."

He settled for cinnamon rolls. I'm not sure if he "smelled" like cinnamon rolls or not.

Our Garden

We have lots of tomatoes growing. The kids are having lots of fun going out each day to look to see if there are any ripe ones.

Here is one of the two watermelons that are in our garden. The plant grew like crazy, but it didn't make many melons.

Our prize pumpkins have sprouted! In 100 short days, we may have pumpkins to carve at Halloween!

An Emergency

Here is a note that Josie (6 years old) wrote to her GeGe and slid under the door to get her out of the bathroom faster.

"hery becaues Jake is bleeting hery up."

It turned out that "bleeting" meant he had knocked a scab off his leg.

Back Home

We're back from a week in Happy and a wedding in Abbott. It is nice to be back in our own beds. We missed Daddy while we were gone. Now the reality of summer winding down is hitting, especially since all of the stores have school supplies and backpacks out already. Josie is already picking out all the things she can't live without. We went looking for pumpkin seeds today. Lowes and Target had already put their seeds away. We finally went to the feed store to find them. Now we wait for our prize pumpkins to grow.

Family Reunion

Here is a picture from 4th of July Weekend. The kids and I went to Happy for the Tirey Reunion. We had a great time visiting and playing with all the Tirey cousins. We love going to Happy. I even got to spend a day on the tractor plowing. Those were the days...air conditioner, radio, no one saying "Mama, can you..."
