Wii Fit has come to our house, and we love it. It has aerobic activities, yoga, balance games, and strength training. Our main problem with it is that we only have one--and all four of us want to play!

The little guys in the picture are who you see on the TV screen as you exercise. These "Miis" can be made to look like you. You can make them tall or short, thin or plump. You can choose hair color and style, eye color, eyebrow shape, and more. We spent literally hours just make our "Miis" when we first got the Wii.

The depressing part of Wii Fit is that your Mii changes to match your body after the balance board weighs you. You put in your height and age, and it tells you your BMI. So my Mii is quite plump and so is Cody's. The good news is that I've lost 2 lbs. since we got it on Tuesday! Now if I could just figure out how to not have to take turns with Cody and the kids.

Blogger Blues

All week, I've tried to think of something to blog. For some reason, everytime I start to type, my mind goes blank. Well, come to think of it, that happens in other situations too. Maybe I have a problem that goes beyond blogging.

I thought about writing about the great weekend I had without my family last weekend, but then I figured that was probably ugly of me to talk about how happy I was to have the house to myself. I considered writing about the evils of state-wide standardized testing, but then I figured that was not the best thing for an aspiring principal to discuss. Last night, I thought about taking pictures of our Wii playing adventures, but then I realized I'd already done that.

So here I am, essentially writing about nothing. I've managed to type an entire paragraph about what I didn't write.

TGIF

Here are my Friday Fill-Ins:

1. Oh, I am so glad it's Friday!
2. Roll with the changes, big and little.
3. During hunting season, I can control the remote (sometimes).
4. President Obama; are you kidding me??? (Sorry, I've tried to be politically neutral on this blog.)
5. Right now I'd like to be on vacation in a place where laundry does not exist.
6. The paper cutter is my favorite gadget. (Does that count as a gadget? I don't think I use any gadgets...)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to getting to do whatever I want, tomorrow my plans include sleeping late and Sunday, I want to finish my class assignment and discussion post!

All Dressed Up...

Last night, Cody and I went to a dinner for the Houston Safari Club. We were invited by a friend of Cody's who he works with through the golf course. It was "Black Tie Optional," and I figured everyone would like to see a picture of us all dressed up (it happens so seldom). The food was delicous, and the live auction was fun to watch, even though it was out of our league. Maybe someday we'll be able to pay $30,000 for a rifle or an African hunt. Then again, maybe not. The best part of the evening was the featured entertainer--Jeff Foxworthy!

The Next Lightweight Champion

The newest way to waste a lot of time at our house is playing Wii. It was actually Cody's Christmas present, but we've all had fun playing. Tonight, we finally got the nunchuks out of the package and tried out boxing.

I'm a little ashamed to admit that one day last week we played Wii all afternoon after school. The kids did not get to bed on time. No homework got done. No baths were taken. No laundry was done. I can't remember feeding anyone, but surely someone would have said something if he was hungry. Since then, we've had to put limits on our gaming (for adults and children).

Friday Fill-Ins

1. It's January; my birthday is next week .
2. Chocolate is what I crave most right now.
3. Cork and wine go together like chocolate and peanut butter.
4. Chocolate is so nourishing.
5. Let us dare to keep our resolutions to not eat chocolate.
6. Please, clean my home!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to playing Wii, tomorrow my plans include laundry and Sunday, I want to relax!

10 Resolutions

In honor of my 10th wedding anniversary, I am making 10 resolutions for 2009.
(In no particular order)

1.) Pray more; worry less.
2.) Read a book or play a game with my kids every day.
3.) Show appreciation for all the things my husband does for our family.
4.) Feed my body with good food (no more candy bars with peanut butter slathered on top or saltines spread with icing).
5.) Buy a new Bible that is easier to understand and READ IT!
6.) Save money and quit buying things we don't really need.
7.) Exercise regularly. (Note to self: Once every few weeks does not constitute "regularly.")
8.) Be crafty--I always have lots of ideas for what I could make/do, but I never seem to get past the idea phase.
9.) Cook more and be patient with my little chefs who want to be a part of every step of the process.
10.) Enjoy my family instead of worrying about schoolwork, laundry, dirty bathrooms, and floors that need to be vacuumed.

Ten Years

Cody and I celebrated a decade of marriage yesterday. I sometimes tease him that our song is the Gary Stewart song, "Ten Years of This." Despite my kidding, it does not seem like "a million nights" and I can't wait to see how the next ten years turn out. We met 12 years ago at a Charlie Daniels concert at the Texas Hall of Fame. When Cody asked me if Iwanted to go fishing (that was apparently his pickup line), I never dreamed that being with him would be a lifetime commitment to fishing and hunting. Since we didn't have a digital camera ten years ago, I only have pictures from the last few years to post. Maybe I'll get ambitious and scan a few old ones in, but here are a few.

Happy anniversary Cody! I love you!

Holiday Travels

The day after Christmas, we drove to Happy and spent a few days with my mom and my brother and sister and their families. One day, we got to see a little snow. The boys were able to do a little hunting, and we all had lots of fun just hanging out.

More Christmas Pictures

The Spivey Family

My two favorite boys...

Josie and Mia...my two American girls

Christmas Pictures

Here are a few pictures from our visit to Granny and PaPa Spivey's. We were there on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and got to spend time with all the Spivey aunts, uncles and cousins.

The stockings were hung and peace rang through the house until...

Jake recovered quickly from the choking incident. Santa was good to all of the Spivey kids, and Christmas Day brought doll playing, BB gun shooting, and Wii playing.

Thursday Fill-Ins

Usually these are Friday Fill-Ins, but as usual, I'm just a little bit off.

1. I must live in the country before I die.

2. You can't stop laundry.

3. I wish I never had to buy groceries again.

4. Cody, Josie, and Jake have helped me change my life.

5. I know the song Redneck Girl by heart.

6. If I weren't so afraid, I would quit my job and start a photography business.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to taking a LONG bath in my bathtub, tomorrow my plans include celebrating my 10th anniversary with Cody and Saturday and Sunday, I want to get organized and ready to go back to work!

Christmas pictures coming soon! You can go my sister's blog to see pictures of Cody, Jake, and my brother-in-law and nephew hunting in the panhandle. We have some very pretty pheasant feathers that my mother-in-law tried to steal. Jake said no to that idea.
