Another Week of TAKS Testing

Today is the first day of a very LONG week at school. We have TAKS testing most of the week. I'm all for accountability in schools, but I think anyone who has been involved in TAKS will say that the state of Texas has taken assessment to a whole new level.

Did you know?
*TAKS materials in our school are locked up in a closet with 2 locks (one was not secure enough) in a locked office.
*Anyone who gives the test or is involved in any way must sign a security oath (not once, but a minimum of three different times).
*If a student pukes on the test, we have to bag it up and send it back in to the state.

More tomato plants and squash and zucchini seeds have been planted at our house. This is as close to my farm roots as I seem to get these days. Hopefully we will have a bumper crop. We're toying with the idea of planting black-eyed peas around our deck--is that a redneck thing to do?

The Many Faces of Josie

The beginnings of our "garden"

We are trying growing our tomatoes upside down this year. Everything I have read has suggested using a 5 gallon bucket, but I already had these hanging baskets. We'll see how it works.
Here is our back flower bed all cleaned out and ready for new vegetable plants.

Easter Preparations

Easter cupcakes with green icing to go with our stained fingers.

Check out their fingers--I don't know if they are clean yet!

We dyed eggs with our neighbors on Saturday night--outside...on the deck. Just think what my house would have looked like if their hands looked that bad.

Tag

1. Choose the fourth folder where you store pictures on your computer.

2. Choose the fourth picture.

3. Explain that picture.

4. Tag 4 other people.

This picture is of my very cute nephew Graham at Christmas this year. He has a personality to match that cute smile. Graham, tell your parents to bring you down here to visit!!

I tag Laura, Ashly, Amanda, and Sheri (that is if Sheri ever has time to update her blog!).

What have we learned this week?

Jake
learned to ride his bike without training wheels.

Josie
learned new cheerleading stunts and moves.

We've almost made it through another week of TAKS testing, golf coursing, researching, and schooling. It's hard to believe Easter is Sunday! Have a blessed holiday!
